Desktop Authority® Image Center™- Frequently Asked Questions
Q What is Desktop Authority Image Center?
A Desktop Authority Image Center is an operating system deployment solution that reduces the cost and time required to provision desktops and servers by centralizing the capture, customization and deployment of disk images.
Q What operating systems can I image?
A See the supported operating systems here
Q Can I use a single image for all my desktops, regardless of hardware?
A Yes! Image Center allows you to include needed drivers and HALs to ensure deployed images work on target machines.
Q I need to make some changes to my image. Do I need to modify the reference machine and re-image?
A Not necessarily. Image Center can mount the image like a disk where you can edit the file system. Registry editing is also possible.
Q Do I need to use Microsoft's RIS server to deploy the images?
A ou can, but Image Center also comes with its own PXE server to deploy images.
Q Do I have to deploy images to computers one-by-one?
A You can send one or more images simultaneously to multiple computers using individual "unicast" communication, and Image Center also offers a Multicast mode where multiple machines can receive the same image simultaneously.
Q What about things like naming the machine and joining the domain? Do I need to do that manually, post-imaging?
A No! With Image Center, those tasks and others such as configuring network settings and running custom scripts are part of Image Center's post-deployment customization and are automated.
