PowerTerm WebConnect Features
Centralized Administration and Management
PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView gives full, centralized control over enterprise applications. Using the Administration Tool, the IT Administrator can customize the user environment, configure and monitor resource access, closely follow user behavior, easily identify intruders and respond to users in need of assistance. Audit capabilities record and store all the connections made in a database for later review. The user's environment can be controlled to the level of screen color, numerous fonts, keyboard mapping or even menu display.
Universal Printing
Ericom provides the option to integrate with leading universal printing solutions, including triCerat® ScrewDrivers™
Enhanced Server Scalability and Stability
High scalability of (up to 100,000+ users), with no server farm limitations. Moreover, optional integration with RTO™ TScale® enables applications to run more efficiently, use less memory and generate less page file activity, so that fewer servers can support more users, and Terminal Servers can support up to 50% more sessions than Citrix.
Remote Desktop Support
PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView's remote HelpDesk support provides secure, remote access and control over a user's entire desktop. With the Windows native client, the built-in SupportView function provides pcAnywhere®-like capability with several advantages: it requires neither pre-installation on the client, nor user configuration and is both firewall friendly and extremely fast.
The remote desktop support functionality can handle dynamic IP addresses. Even if users are behind firewalls, use DHCP, or connect via an Internet Service Provider (AOL, MSN, Earthlink, etc), they can still use the solution's remote desktop support function. With PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView, system administrators can eliminate pcAnywhere®-like applications, with their associated support costs and the required firewall configuration changes.
Remote desktop support is valuable not only for PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView users, but also for anyone else working on a Windows PC connected to the network. For example, if a user in Tokyo experiences a problem with entering an order, a supervisor in New York can take session control and guide the user on how to correct the problem.
Enhanced Security
PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView provides enterprise-level security measures with comprehensive security features. These include real-time intruder monitoring, logging and event recording, Single Sign-On and Kerberos, plus integration with leading SSL VPNs and RSA® SecurID® two-factor authentication. With built-in support for SSL, all connections from the client to the Terminal Servers can be encrypted, making them secure across public networks. (Other SBC solutions offer a secure server specifically as a stand-alone server only). Moreover, with built in SSL, administrators can permit secure connections to servers that do not support SSL connections.
Multi-Platform Client Support enables users to connect from all major Windows (including Windows Vista) and Linux devices as well as from any Java-enabled client.
Load balancing
PowerTerm WebConnect features highly scalable load balancing for Terminal Servers and applications. When the user requests a connection to the Windows Terminal Server, PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView allocates the most appropriate server. Optimizing server connection sessions, PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView's load balancing prevents server overloads and downtime, improving productivity and workflow.
Automatic Deployments & Auto Refresh Icons
Auto-refresh icons on the client desktop or Start Menu, ensure that the user is always using the most current version of applications.
Application Publishing
Simplify remote application deployment by delivering to the user's local desktop only those applications the user needs. This (plus the fact that the applications are delivered in True Seamless Windows) gives a familiar look and feel to the desktop, improving the overall user experience. Publishing the applications is compatible with existing user access policies, linking application access policies with user accounts within Active Directory.
True Seamless Windows
With PowerTerm WebConnect, remote applications on the Terminal Server are fully integrated at the desktop level, delivering True Seamless Windows. True server-based applications behave and stack on the local desktop just like local applications. By delivering and integrating the remote application rather than an entire 'virtual' remote desktop, users are able to work more productively and intuitively. No awkward navigation and scrolling techniques, no additional learning curves and none of the frustration inherent in non-seamless Windows applications.
Integration with Active Directory
PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView can maintain its own database of users and groups, but also automatically identifies user definitions from any LDAP-compatible directory, e.g., Microsoft Active Directory, Novell® eDirectory™ and iPlanet. Using LDAP, the system administrator can import the existing network configuration, removing the need for manual rekeying and saving significant time in the initial setup. Moreover, PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView can also identify a user for authentication even if moved between OUs (Organizational Units). If the network user is disabled, then the WebConnect server will not allow this user to log into the system.
Single Sign-On
The PowerTerm WebConnect Server can transparently authenticate users, based on their domain authentication, and automatically forward these credentials to the Terminal Server. This eliminates the need for multiple logins and the associated frustration. PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView is fully integrated with Microsoft's Active Directory, providing support for Single Sign-On to Windows Terminal Server applications.
Enterprise-wide Collaboration
PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView integrates with JSR-168 portals (including IBM® Workplace and WebSphere) and with IBM Lotus® Expeditor. Such integration enables organizations to benefit from enterprise-wide collaboration via a Web-based portal interface, providing internal and external access to enterprise data and services.
Enhanced Solution for Thin Client Computing
Ericom's alternative to Citrix is embedded in leading CE, XPe and Linux-based thin client devices. Ericom's PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView administers applications and access entirely at the server level, eliminating the need to service or upgrade individual thin clients.
Simplified PowerTerm WebConnect Server Management
Multiple PowerTerm WebConnect servers can be managed from a single administration tool.
