Application Performance Monitor - Template-Driven Application Monitoring
|
 |
-
Create and share Application Monitor Templates
-
Define custom groups of monitors and settings that can be applied to multiple servers
-
Save time by eliminating repetitive configuration tasks
|
Orion APM saves you time by employing centralized Application Monitor Templates that combine groups of monitors and settings. Orion APM ships with Application Monitor Templates for popular applications, such as Microsoft® Exchange, Microsoft IIS, and Apache, or you can easily create your own custom monitoring templates with just a few mouse clicks.
Once templates are established, they can be applied to multiple servers, eliminating the need to perform repetitive configuration tasks for similar applications and servers. Plus, changes made to a template automatically propagate throughout your network, ensuring that monitoring is updated for all systems that rely on the modified template. For example, a change to the threshold settings for mail queue length in your Exchange monitor template will automatically and immediately be applied to all of your monitored Exchange servers.
In addition, Orion APM templates are portable, and can be easily downloaded and shared with the SolarWinds community on Thwack. Visit Thwack today to see the Application Monitor Templates that are currently available.

|
-
Measure application performance from an end-user’s perspective
-
Ensure a high Quality of Experience (QoE)
-
Leverage out-of-the-box SaaS monitoring and support for HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle®, and other ODBC databases
|
Orion APM enables you to measure application performance from an end user’s perspective with out-of-the-box SaaS monitoring and support for HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle®, and other ODBC databases. This Quality of Experience (QoE) measurement gives you a heads up on problems and helps ensure that your users are happy with the performance of the applications that they rely on.
Consider the case of an online retailer. Its website is its lifeblood. Ensuring that web pages are available and performing well is critical, as downtime means immediate loss of revenue. APM ensures that web servers are up and running, providing immediate alerts if a host server crashes, a server-side error occurs, or a broken link is found.
Additionally, APM can verify that web content is being served up correctly, including checking for a specific price on a particular product page. APM can even notify an administrator of unauthorized changes to the pricing structure on the web site. Together, these features ensure not only the health, but also the accuracy of the web infrastructure.
Application Performance Monitor - Out-of-the-Box Agentless Monitoring
|
|
-
Eliminate concerns about drag on your network and unnecessary maintenance with agentless monitoring
-
Spend time monitoring your applications, not setting up monitoring services
-
Save time with out-of-the-box Application Monitor Templates for common servers, services, and databases
|
Orion APM does not require you to install agents, which makes deployment and maintenance a breeze – not to mention eliminating any concerns about drag on your network. While alternative application monitoring solutions require deploying agents on each server, Orion APM remotely collects key health statistics, enabling you to quickly begin monitoring your entire IT infrastructure from a central console.
Plus, with Orion APM’s out-of-the-box monitoring templates and end-user-experience monitors, you will be up and running in just minutes. Out-of-the-box coverage includes Microsoft® Exchange, IIS, Active Directory®, Apache, and user-experience monitors for HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and other ODBC databases.
Application Performance Monitor - Open Source Script Processor
|
|
-
Leverage open-source Nagios® scripts to save time and to facilitate migration to APM
-
Convert any Nagios script into a format that Orion APM can use to schedule and run jobs
-
Expand monitoring of Unix and Linux systems through your own Nagios scripts or those in third-party script libraries
|
A huge and growing collection of Nagios scripts is used globally to monitor thousands of network services; and we know that many of you rely on these open-source scripts for tasks like confirming the completion of daily backups.
That’s why we built a script processor into Orion APM that enables you to convert any Nagios script into a format that Orion APM can use to schedule and run jobs and report on results.
